Cheltenham Facilities

Our Cheltenham day nursery is set over three floors in a light and elegant heritage property conveniently located in the Regency town. Within a secure and happy environment, children have the opportunity to explore and develop through creative play under the guidance of our highly trained and caring teams. Every child is assigned a Key Person; these nurturing, consistent and special relationships allow every single child to flourish while at Elephant Moon.

All our rooms are designed to appeal to a wide range of interests and experiences. Child-level, age-appropriate equipment allows children to make choices and gain a sense of independence. Each of our happy, sociable environments is

an important stepping stone where children can learn among friends, develop new interests and skills and have fun. For more about the Cheltenham Day Nursery click here

Children move through the rooms based on development rather than age in the following stages:

The Baby Suite (from 3 months*)

Ratio: 1 staff member to 3 babies

Our well-equipped baby suite is a warm, happy and nurturing space for our youngest children during their precious formative months. Within an intimate and restful environment, babies have the opportunity for stimulation and development through planned activities and age-appropriate equipment.

In our dedicated sleep room, babies relax and slumber in their own cots and bedding. We aim to provide complete peace of mind for parents: babies are continuously monitored by caring, professional staff who ensure comfort and safety at all times.

The Tweenie Room (from 18 months*)

Ratio: 1 staff member to 3 children

Our Tweenie Room is a cheerful, spacious environment full of potential and discovery for children of up to two years. The appealing equipment and introduction to a structured day are designed to reflect the evolving needs and interests of children in this age group.

A cosy area provides a place where children can relax and enjoy stories and songs with their friends. In other parts of the room, different areas facilitate learning through creative play. Inspiration and sensory experience comes alive in the messy corner; in the role-play area children test their imaginations and explore ideas while the construction area develops good co-ordination through fun and satisfying activities.

The Toddler Room (from 2 years*)

Ratio: 1 staff member to 4 children

As toddlers, children continue their exciting journey of discovery while developing a growing sense of independence. Our Toddler Room is designed with this in mind, its walls adorned with evidence of the children’s achievements and interests. It has its own easily accessible sink and provides plenty of ways for children to enhance their growing skills and perception of the world.

Valuable communication skills and positive sense of self-esteem are developed through activities such as daily circle time, when the children sit and share their own experiences and ideas. Our toddler area features appealing sensory and creative zones that invite curious minds to investigate and explore. Throughout a structured and stimulating day, toddlers explore creatively through activities including sand-and-water play, storytelling, music and movement, puzzles and painting.

Pre-school (from 3 years*)

Ratio: Ratio: 1 staff member to 8 children

Our Pre-school environment prepares children for school through a more structured routine. Within our lovely, well proportioned Pre-school Room with easily accessible toilets, children start to increase their concentration skills and learn to work in small groups.

The room provides children with the facilities to develop their confidence and decision-making skills while establishing and building relationships. During child-led circle times, children are encouraged to share their learning and experience with their friends. As well as instilling the children with a sense of pride, these activities enhance their personal and social development.

At this stage we focus further on the seven areas of learning. These are: physical development; personal; social and emotional development, communication and language; literacy, expressive arts and designs; understanding of the world and mathematics. These all serve to prepare our children for the next step in their learning experience once they leave Elephant Moon.
